Mountain Dweller

Long Exposure

I captured my first long exposure when I was on a mountain top in New Zealand and stepped outside to see so many stars that I couldn't believe that I was alive in that moment; playing with my settings for over an hour, I had a self-taught lesson once I moved back to Utah before embarking on my first desert trip. Since then, it's been a very subtle obsession; teaching a university class on light painting in Capitol Reef was the peak of achievement for me. I still shoot blurry, out of focus star photos every time I go to shoot, but that's where the enjoyment in the patience that it takes to get what you want comes in.
